The Cosco Mighty Fit 65 DX is the successor of the Cosco Mighty Fit 65.
The Cosco Mighty Fit 65 (without the “DX”) comes in many names – the Safety 1st Guide 65, the Eddie Bauer XRS 65, and the Safety 1st SportFit 65, so please don’t be confused, LOL.
The Cosco Mighty Fit 65 DX is a budget-friendly two-way car seat. It is not that easy to tighten the straps in the rear-facing mode. You’ll also need to get a separate approved shoulder harness pad, so your child’s neck doesn’t get irritated from the straps. These are just a few of its shortcomings.
Read on why, despite these, it’s not a useless seat.

Will It Fit In My Car?
Width | 18.5 inches |
Height | 20.5 inches (rear-facing)
25 inches (forward-facing) |
Depth/Length | 27.34 inches (rear-facing)
20.25 inches (forward-facing) |
It’s neither too small nor too big. But just by looking at the pictures, the “3-in-a-row” install is not possible with the cupholders installed. You either need a bigger car for you to do that or you’ll have to remove the cup holder to perform a three-in-a-row installation.

Installation is said to be more comfortable when you do this – press the car seat into the vehicle seat back with your full weight while you tightly pull out the LATCH or seatbelt.

A common mistake made by those who find the security of this seat questionable is shaking it from all sides. The appropriate way is to check the side-by-side movement is by grabbing the belt path using a single, less-dominant hand.
The belt path can be viewed well if the seat pad is removed first. Also, seat protectors may jeopardize installation so they are not recommended for use with this seat.
Several parents claim that this seat should only be marketed for forward facing installation because they could not get a secure fit when they install this in rear-facing mode.
Nonetheless, there are still many parents who highly recommend this seat because they find it easy to install in both orientations. Ultimately, it would boil down to whether or not the parent has previous experience or particular knack for installing car seats.

Cosco Mighty Fit 65 DX is lightweight compared to its competitors mainly because it does not have a steel frame.
Any item that a child uses may get dirty so it is great that this product has seat padding that can be removed and machine washed. The cover can be easily removed and placed back with the elastic straps. Keep in mind that the car seat should not be used while the seat padding is out for washing or drying.
Make sure to follow washing and drying instructions so as not to see some faded areas in the seat cover, as reported by some.
Color fading in fabrics may be caused by bleach and high water temperature, so never use them when you wash the seat cover. Also, tumble it dry in low heat.
The harness straps may be cleaned with damp cloth and warm water with soap.

Conclusion
If I have to decide to put down money for this car seat, I will reconsider some issues. The need to find a specific trick in installing the product in the rear-facing mode is my most important concern. If the seat is that tricky to install, perhaps it won’t be safe unless I achieve a secure rear-facing installation.
Best not to move it from one car to another. Once installed in one vehicle, let it stay there unless necessary, such as when it is time to change into the forward-facing mode.
It is relatively low-priced, so it might be better to buy another one if you need it for another vehicle.
It can be an alternative car seat to use (e.g., plane rides) instead of lugging around your existing, heavier and more expensive car seat.
You can also give it as a gift but please only do so if the child who will use it is ready for the forward-facing mode. You don’t want the parent to be cursing your gift while they install it in a rear-facing way, LOL.
As they say, we only get what we pay for. It would be wrong to have high expectations out of something that you can buy at an average price.
I highly suggest that you check our the feedbacks of parents who got this seat, to further confirm your decision.
