Skip Hop Forma Backpack*
Storage
The Skip Hop Forma Backpack is one of the most talked about diaper backpacks that boasts storage and style. The bag is well-designed in such a way that you can quickly organize whatever you need for more than a day, even for two kids. There’s a total of 8 very useful pockets that will make every parent’s life easier.
The front-most zippered pocket can keep your hand or diaper creams, your cardholder, and your mobile phone to name a few. It depends on your urgency needs.
I suggest that whatever you need most of the time must be placed in one of the outside pockets. The phone should stay in this pocket since the two side pockets don’t have any enclosure of any type, and they are meant for water bottles or a sippy cup.
There is another front pocket directly above the smaller front pocket. It has an extra wide, dual zip opening and contains two mesh cubes.
The first insulated mesh cube can keep two 8-oz standard milk bottles while the other mesh cube can keep your kids’ changing clothes.
You can roll and place the clothes side by side, or you can lay them flat on top of each other. Rolling them can make it easier for you to find them since they are placed in a row and just one glimpse, you can straightaway decide what clothes you need to get.
The inside compartment is HUGE. Although there are two elasticized pockets, I believe it can be improved by putting additional compartments so that parents do not need to buy extra diaper organizers so as to keep the things organized. But if you prefer, you can buy separate organizing cubes so that you can totally take control of how to pack your bag.
Once you have the different packing cube for each need (snacks, wipes, emergency kit, etc.), and if they are color coded, you can just grab the particular storage cube right away without messing the stuff inside. You can also line them up in such a way that they will act as the base for other things you need to pack like blankets and burp cloths.
These packing cubes can help!*
Finding stuff inside this bag should be very easy since the main compartment lining of the bag is in good contrast so you can quickly find items. The pockets lining are also light enough it would not be any struggle to see things in the dark.
And if you need to bring a laptop as big as 15 inches, just wrap it in the free cushioned changing diaper pad that comes with this bag and slip it into the inside pocket on top of the side by side pockets.
There is no baby wipe outside pocket holder so you will probably have to stop for a while, open the bag and get the wipes compared to bags that has outside pockets for quickly accessing wipes.

Easy of Use
As with any other backpack, you have the convenience of having free hands to deal with more important things, such as making sure you always have a free hand to cater to the demands of your baby. The adjustable shoulder strap is padded for comfort.
There is also a clip that will let you hang the bag on your stroller.
NOTE: It is to the best of your child to always practice safety and avoid hanging heavy bags on your stroller handles. Place the bag under your stroller if the basket can accommodate it.
Quality/Cost
Belonging to the mid-price range diaper bag plus the additional storage mesh cubes, these cubes definitely adds to the value.
Material
This bag is made of 100% polyester. You can clean the bag by just wiping the insides and spot cleaning the outside with a damp cloth when necessary. Hand washing should there be a need to is also fine. It is also BPA-free, Phthalate-free, and PVC-free.

Hey
In one of your other posts I managed to finally make a decision on what cloth diapers to use – thank you for that as I couldn’t decide many months 🙂 But then I started to think about going out and carrying problem and voila – here’s another helpful post exactly about this topic 🙂 But when checking Amazon – it is very expensive to ship to Europe due to taxes. If the price of bag currently is USD 56 (that seems to be a good deal), shipping and taxes to Europe are USD 91 🙁 Any suggestions about online site more suitable for Europe?
Hi Arta,
It is also available in Amazon UK and it is priced at £62.00 with FREE Delivery in the UK.
Thanks for browsing around my site. 🙂

Pitin
Hi! You recommend additional storage/packing cubes for the larger inner portion of the bag – do you have a link to any storage cubes that you know will work well with the dimensions of this bag? Thanks!
Hi there,
You can fit three of this side by side/standing position. Alternatively, any storage cube with total dimensions of 16l x 8w x 14h inches will also do the job. 🙂

Pitin
Pitin,
This looks like a pretty nice diaper bag. I’ve tried out many different types. This one looks like it allows for great organization. I also like the space, and yet it’s in a nice, compact backpack.
Irvie
Hi Irvie,
I have two diaper bag backpacks and many sling/shouldered ones. This, so far, looks like the lightest of them. 🙂 Pair it up with small storages for organization inside the main compartment, and you have a winner. 🙂

Hi Pitin,
My sister gave birth a few months ago and she is always complaining about the big mess when she goes at the park with her baby boy:) She never finds things she needs right away. However, now I know exactly what present to offer for her baby boy. I am sure she will like it! I just need to find out what colour she would like:)
Thank you very much for this excellent review!
Hi Daniella,
I am sure she will like it. The organisation function of the storage cubes plus the HUGE inside compartment is definitely a winner!:)

I LOVE backpack diaper bags -it is so much easier dealing with a baby or small child when the bag is securely on your back and not sliding off your shoulder all the time.
I also think it is good for your back to distribute the weight evenly rather than one side getting it all.
I have a Ju-Ju-Be Backpack bag. I love the look and compartments but holy moly it’s heavy! I am sure the thing weighed more than 5 pounds with nothing in it. The fact that this bag is just 1 pound is a huge pro in my books!
Hi Amber,
I have heard a great deal about Ju-Ju-Be diaper bags. They look so organised and well compartmentalised in my opinion. And the fact that more and more moms love them just give me the curiosity to try them out. But now that you have mentioned the weight of the bag when empty, I think I will have to pass completely. HEAVY (when still empty) diaper bags is a deal breaker for me. ;-p Thanks for sharing your experience with it. 🙂

Pitin
The cost of it is just right in my price range as I didn’t want to spend more than $75. I love all of the compartments. Thanks for the thorough review.
Hi Simone,
For a $67 lightweight backpack, Skip Hop Forma is a good deal indeed. 🙂

I received my diaper bag as a gift for the baby shower, and it was bulky and heavy. I rarely use it.
This Skip Hop diaper bag you reviewed has many advantages. I like the dimensions, and it is well organized in terms of compartments. I love the fact that weights only 1 lbs. The fabric is cute too. Thanks for this review.
Hi Carolyn,
I also have diaper bags I received as gifts, which, after only several uses, I already stopped using. The reality is that it is hard to spot a good diaper bag unless you really do your research properly. Sometimes we are also drawn at the form and forgets the function but in reality, diaper bags that offers both form and function do exist..Hello Skip Hop Forma backpack. 🙂
I hope having this bag definitely will make my life much easier. I think a huge benefit of this pack is that it’s made of polyester which makes it easy to clean. It’s cute and stylish as well.
Hi Misty,
Materials like polyester would be ideal because some babies spit up a lot! I used to bring two bags every time I go out. As my daughter becomes a toddler, I learned to pack more efficiently. I tend to carry less now because she now needs lesser things. Packing for a baby doesn’t only needs just a bag like this but also careful planning on what to bring.

Pitin
I was checking around for purchasing a gift for my son and wife as they have a newborn.
This skip hop forma backpack you feature in this article sounds great. They have already bought the basics like a crib, stroller, etc., but I’m pretty sure they have not found anything as nice as this yet.
I’ll have to check into them getting one.
Hi Travis,
Thank you. I am sure this backpack will be a great deal of help to them. 🙂
Cheers,
Pitin
I have had many diaper bags and I love that this doubles as a purse and diaper bag. I always got annoyed having to carry two different bags. This solves that problem.
Indeed. 🙂 There are times that you will feel like a clothes line with a lot of things hanging around you (plus your baby). HAHA
