The Chicco Keyfit Caddy Stroller Frame is not too expensive yet will prove to be useful during your child’s first year – especially if you are getting the Chicco Keyfit 30 infant seat that is compatible with it, which is one of the best choices when it comes to an infant car seat.

Is it a fair choice to put on your baby registry?

Let’s see.

Chicco Keyfit Caddy Stroller Frame

The Stroller Seat

Unlike other strollers, this Caddy doesn’t have a stroller seat for your child to sit on. It is only a frame that is meant to carry a Chicco Keyfit infant car seat.

With that, it is only usable as long as your child is still using their Chicco Keyfit infant car seat.

This stroller frame is designed to carry any Chicco Keyfit infant car seat.

One-Hand Open/Fold Mechanism

It is very easy to open and close the Chicco Keyfit caddy. You only need one hand to do it. And it’s an easy job!

Can It Stand Upright Alone?

It is worth noting that this caddy can stand upright when closed. Most parents would want it because aside from being a space-saver when stored upright, it is also more hygienic since most of its parts will not be touching the ground.

The Storage Area

The expandable basket is HUGE. It’s another awesome thing about this caddy since you can put a lot of stuff in the storage below.

Stroller Handle

The handle is adjustable so you can customize its height and angle according to your preference. A lot of parents want this feature since the one who will be pushing it can either be a tall daddy or a short mommy 🙂

The Parent Tray

This caddy has a parent tray with two cup holders – a feature that is very useful especially for parents that are always on the go. You even have a covered compartment for your keys in the middle.

Child’s Tray

There’s no child’s tray since the one who’ll be using this is an infant/young baby who’s riding an infant car seat. 🙂

The Canopy

There’s also no built-in stroller canopy. The canopy you will be using is the infant car seat canopy unless you get a separate rain cover for the caddy, which is quite hard to find nowadays.

Size And Weight

It is relatively lighter than most strollers.

Given that it is only a “bare aluminum frame” which has little bells and whistles (parent tray with cupholder, huge basket, adjustable handles), it easy to handle the weight which is 11.15 pounds.

Measurements When Opened

Length: 37.25 inches
Width: 35.5 inches
Height:  20 inches

Measurements When Folded

Width: 11 inches
Height:  33.5 inches

Diameter of front and rear wheels: 6.25 inches

The Wheels

The wheels can sometimes get squeaky – especially when the basket is overloaded with HEAVY stuff and while maneuvering it on smooth surfaces like the mall.

Take note also that it cannot handle rough roads, terrains, and other rocky surfaces.

Conclusion

How long you can use this caddy is dependent on how long you can use the car seat you will attach to it, which is most of the time the Chicco Keyfit 30 infant seat. After your child has outgrown the car seat, there is no other use of this caddy unless you are having a second child.

It’s compact and lightweight – two most important things especially for the first few months of a mom who just had a C-section.

It’s useful for daily errands. While the expandable basket is huge, don’t expect to carry heavy stuff in there as the wheels can be flimsy with a heavy load. You can, however, put bulky but LIGHT stuff.

For short walks in the park, it’s also awesome that you can just grab this in an instant and still be able to hold your drinks in the parent tray and your diaper bag in the basket.

While it probably can only be used for an average of 1 year (again, dependent on your infant car seat), that’s like spending USD 8.25 per month for a stroller before you transition to another stroller that you can use until your child no longer needs them. Not bad if you come to think of it.

I highly suggest you check out the reviews of the parents who got it to further confirm your decision.

  1. Hi. Thank you for the review. It’s very good. I especially like the video. I can see a lot of good things about this stroller, but, when I look or buy a stroller/pram, I always look to see how long it can be used for (i.e can it still be used for toddlers). I would like to use it for as long as possible. Reading your article and watching the video, it looks like it can only be used for babies. Am I right? Can it also be used for toddlers?

    1. Hi Arif,

It is meant to carry an infant car seat. So yes, it is only good for babies. Or as long as your infant car seat can still accommodate your child. But I highly doubt that you will still use it after a year when you already have a toddler.

Alternatively, there are several other stroller options I have reviewed here which you can use as your child grows.

      Cheers,

      Pitin

  2. I’ve watched my wife struggle with a few that were really junk. If I had it to do over, I would invest in a few good strollers and cup holders are a must!

    1. Hi Scott,

Cup holders for both the parent and the child are something that may sound a “luxury” but if you come to think of it, they are practical needs. Our first stroller didn’t come with a cup holder (it was a gift). When we bought our umbrella stroller, I made sure that it comes with it. 🙂 So far, I use the umbrella stroller 99{0b94e73e5e915ecbcf303cb4742b71cc2938bb096419f627339ee9d65669f423} of the time. 🙂 Lightweight ones such as this Chicco caddy is something that mothers will love because we tend to want to carry “lesser” and lighter strollers.

      Regards,
      Pitin

    1. Hi Rule,

Thanks for visiting my site. 🙂 My baby gears and other baby-related stuff are not really all Chicco – but I have to agree that they have a lot of products that are worth every penny.

      Regards,
      Pitin
