One thing we should be looking for in a stroller is the convenience of carrying it around should we leave the house alone with our little ones. Imagine the sight of carrying a diaper bag, a stroller, and grocery bags – add the pain of commuting to the equation. Will The Summer Infant 3D Lite Stroller make our lives easier?
For half the price of the above mentioned high-end umbrella strollers, will this “feature-rich” but cheap umbrella stroller be able to make it to your baby registry?
I have noted the pros and cons that stood out to me while researching about this product to help you decide.

Name Of The Product: Summer Infant 3Dlite Convenience Stroller
Cheapest Place To Buy
Can I Use It Until My Little One Outgrows It?
Smaller children (ideally at least six months) will not have a problem being comfortable in it. It can recline to almost flat should there be a need to do a quick diaper change or nap.
The frame is always complimented to as being durable, which can equate to being able to use the stroller longer.
How’s The Height Of The Handle Bar In Proportion To The One Pushing It?
It’s good to know that tall parents will not have to hunch over when pushing it. It has good height proportion of the handle bar.
Is There Enough Storage?
For an umbrella stroller, it is too much to ask for a big space, but this one has just pleased parents by giving them more than what is usually found in umbrella strollers.
The storage is decent in size for an umbrella stroller.
How Heavy Is It?
An umbrella stroller should be lightweight in general. But because there are added features which are not usually found in umbrella strollers, 12 lbs or 5.45 kg is a decent weight for what it offers.
I wouldn’t say it’s lightweight for an umbrella stroller. But it’s not heavy either for something that has a decent storage underneath and a durable aluminum frame.
Not Ideal For Older Kids
It may not be ideal for taller and older children. As one parent mentioned in her review, her daughter is 31 months old, and 35 inches and her feet is almost touching the ground and is way over the footrest. The kid’s head is also already touching the roof of the canopy.
Also, another mom’s three-year-old child can unbuckle the harness and free herself, so it is not very safe for older kids who already know how things work.
Tricky To Access Things In The Basket When Completely Reclined
To get your stuff underneath when the seat is completely reclined can get tricky. Depending on the extent of the stuff you put underneath, you might need to take them out if you want easy access so as not to disturb your sleeping baby.
Can I Use It With One Hand?
Opening and closing it? – NO.
Steering it? – NO.
It would be lots of effort to open and close it if you are all by yourself with a baby. And how are you going to maneuver it smoothly if it always requires you to steer with two hands?
Parents need their other hand as much as possible, for other stuff other than dealing with strollers.
How’s The Canopy Size?
The canopy is a “pop out sun visor.” You probably have to get an additional accessory if you want a better coverage from the sun.
Can It Stand Upright Alone?
As expected from an umbrella stroller, it cannot stand by itself.
It is not very convenient especially if you are commuting and have to get in and out of a bus for example, together with your child, your diaper bag, and your other stuff, add the sight of being alone – you can only imagine how depressing the sight is! Lol.
Is There A Child’s Tray?
Nope. That would be too much to ask given the price.:-p
Cup Holders/Parent Tray
There is a cup holder, but it is not big enough for larger bottles. I wouldn’t trust it too to hold on to hot drinks as a general precaution.
Weight & Frame Style: 12 lbs. Aluminum Open Design
Accessories Included: Cup Holder
Wheels: 6 inches
Dimensions: 43″ H x 18″ W x 27″ L
This stroller is a good buy for the price, but it’s not the most amazing stroller. It’s convenient because it’s somewhat compact, but it’s not as compact compared to the simple umbrella strollers.
Summer Infant has tried to add the features that are not usually found in simple umbrella strollers which, is a plus point for someone who is looking for a cheap and “lightweight” alternative with basic features and don’t need the full-featured stroller.
What do you think?
Will you get this umbrella stroller instead of the higher priced ones with almost the same features?
