Aside from the steel-reinforced frame that both they both come with, the Boulevard G4.1 seat has improved side impact protection – 2 layers to be exact.

When you pull to tighten the Britax Boulevard seat harness, you’ll hear an audible click to tell you are within the correct range of tightness. However, that is not the correct gauge to secure your child in the seat.

To properly buckle up your little passenger, always do a pinch test. A pinch test is literally trying to pinch the seat harness on the collarbone area. If you cannot pinch it anymore, then your seat harness is tightened properly.

When choosing a Graco seat color, try to stay away from the Matrix color if you live in a hot place. The fabric of the said color is said to be made of an unbreathable fabric.

The Boulevard seat is lighter and more portable when you need to air travel with a seat.

When you need to wash the seat cover, be mindful that aside from only hand-washing the seat cover of the Boulevard G4.1 seat, the Laguna and Domino colors of the Boulevard G4.1 can easily fray when they come in contact with velcroed fabrics.

The Britax Boulevard seat seems to be designed for older babies as it does not come with an infant body support. It has only 3 recline positions, too.

Graco 4ever seat takes 10 years to expire – that’s three years more than the Boulevard G4.1.

While the Graco 4ever already includes two cup holders upon purchase, you’ll have to get a separate cup holder for the Boulevard G4.1 since it does not come with it.

Conclusion

There’s approximately USD 30 to 40 price difference between the Graco 4ever and Britax Boulevard G4.1. The Graco 4ever is more expensive.

Let’s see why is it more expensive.

  1. Your child can use it until they are ready for the vehicle’s seat belt.
  2. You don’t need to use a pool noodle when installing it.
  3. It has a machine-washable cover.
  4. It comes with a removable head and body pillow for young babies.
  5. It has 10 years before it expires.
  6. It comes with 2 cup holders.

Now let’s see what you get for saving a little money with the Britax Boulevard G4.1.

  1. It’s a little narrower than the Graco 4ever.
  2. It’s made in the USA.
  3. All seat colors are made of breathable materials.
  4. It’s lighter to air travel with it.

The Britax Boulevard G4.1 is a good seat if you plan to use it for a child who needs to transition from an infant car seat to a 2-way car seat. It’s not a bad 2-way seat choice.

However, getting the Graco 4ever will somehow eliminate the need to change from one car seat to another. The additional cost, I believe, is easily justified by the above six points.

If I am to choose just one, I’d get the Graco 4ever.

    1. Hi Huzefa,

Car seats are crash-tested as they are. That means whatever seat cover it is that they come with, they are declared safe by the manufacturer based on what they sell.

Unless the seat cover is a “recommended” alternative, it is NEVER safe to change it with a third party purchase as it may hinder with safety features that the seat was crash-tested with.

In the case of Graco 4ever, it seems that only the Matrix color is complained to make a child sweat so much especially in hot countries.

The Boulevard G4.1 seat fabrics are all breathable materials.

      I hope this helps.

      Regards,

      Pitin

  1. We are in the point of buying a front facing car seat for our youngest. We had the graco for our oldest son and I love it because I can wash it. He had his bottle sometimes while we were traveling and made messes so personally I’d never buy something that’s not machine washable.

    1. Hi Justina,

Yeah, preferences really differ. And because us parents look like we have a whole lot of things to take care of, hand-washing a seat cover can be a pain for some people. ;-p

      Pitin
