The Evenflo Symphony DLX and Evenflo Everystage DLX are both award-winning.
Evenflo Symphony DLX has won many awards, such as 2013 Top Rated and Best Buy Car Seat by a Leading Consumer Magazine. Evenflo Eveystage DLX received 2 JPMA Innovation Awards in 2018 for parents Pick and Child Restraint categories.
Yet, it still depends on what each seat could offer that will mold parents’ decisions on which car seat to buy for their children.
Read the side-by-side comparison below to see why the Everystage DLX could be superior to the Symphony DLX.

Ideal Use
Evenflo Symphony DLX/Elite | Evenflo Everystage DLX
Rear-Facing Weight: | 5 to 40 pounds | 4 to 50 pounds |
Rear-Facing Height Limit: | 19 to 40 pounds | 17 to 43 inches |
Forward-Facing Weight: | 22 to 65 lbs
Forward-Facing Height Limit: | 28 to 50 inches
High Back Booster Weight: | 40 to 110 pounds | 40 to 120 pounds |
High Back Booster Height Limit: | 44 to 57 inches | 44 to 57 inches/At least 4 Years Old |
Similarities:
Looking at the figures from the table above, we could easily see that the common features these 2 car seats share are their forward-facing height and weight limits, minimum high back booster weight and booster height limits.
Differences:
- Rear Facing – If you would look at reviews about these 2 car seats, you would realize that if you have a premature baby, you would rather choose an infant car seat. The harness system and the included infant body cushion in these 2 products seemed to have provided secure fit for average-sized newborns weighing at least 7 pounds.
With their maximum weight limits, the better choice is Everystage DLX. With 50 pounds rear-facing maximum weight, parents could comply very well with the recommendation of the American Academy of Pediatrics. The Everystage DLX will allow infants and toddlers to remain rear-facing in a car seat as long as their car seats could allow.
- Booster – Everystage DLX has a higher weight capacity in terms of the high back booster mode.

Width | 21.5 inches | 19 inches |
Height | 19.5 inches | 26.5 inches |
Depth/Length | 28 inches | 22 inches |
Similarities:
Neither of these 2 child restraints will fit the requirement of a slim and space-saving car seat.
Differences:
- Fit In Cars
-
- With Evenflo Symphony DLX, you will most likely not worry that the car seat might block your rear window view since it is shorter than the competition. Therefore, you can place it on any seat in the car, even the row of seats close to the back of a minivan. Vehicles where this car seat was installed well include Subaru Forester, Subaru Outback and Toyota Camry.
-
- The Evenflo Everystage DLX offers more space for other passengers in a car. An Amazon customer said that it could fit in a cramped space such as in their Ford Fusion. Other vehicles where this car seat was installed (which gained the approval of parents) include 2006 GMC Sierra, 2011 Mini Countryman, 2011 Chevy Avalanche, 2015 Honda Odyssey, 2017 Chevy Impala and 2017 Chevy Silverado.

Easy To Install Rear-Facing By Seatbelt? | Yes
Easy To Install Forward-Facing? | Yes

Similarities:
To prop up these two car seats in the appropriate angle, their manuals mentioned that we may use rolled towels or small blankets. You may also look for the respective manual of these seats here or book for a live video installation appointment at https://evenflo.appointlet.com/.
Differences:
- LATCH installation – Each of these car seats boast of their unique ratcheting lower anchor connector system that makes LATCH installation much easier.
Evenflo Symphony DLX has the SureLATCH system. It is a ratcheting and auto-retracting type of connector, as this video shows.
- Recline
-
- Finding a suitable recline angle in Symphony DLX is rather challenging, which makes the use of a rolled towel or blanket more necessary. This could make some parents uncomfortable as they do not think it would be safe to entrust the safety of a child passenger to aftermarket products instead of the car seat itself. It only has a line indicator for checking if the car seat is at level.
-
- Everystage DLX has a more attractive offering in terms of recline. Not only does it have more recline settings, but parents would appreciate the custom cradled fit that it can provide for newborns. When at the lowest headrest setting, its proprietary in-seat recline will be at work so that the recline angle will be appropriate in minimizing head slump and keeping the airways open for newborn babies. This setting, however, could make adjusting the headrest somewhat troublesome because the fabric might catch on to the headrest. Given that, parents who need to use a single car seat for several kids should consider this about the Everystage DLX.
Everystage DLX has five recline positions on the base. Some parents said they could not see this marking on the black plastic. A bubble recline indicator, however, helps in determining if the recline angle is suitable for the child.

These car seats share the same features from the table above. Their differences are from the reviews and evaluation of parents who have used them.
Regarding safety testimonials, for example, you will have a hard time looking for reviews stating how the Evenflo Everystage DLX has worked during a real-life accident, at least as of writing this review. Evenflo Symphony DLX, however, has quite a lot of testimonials that parents will give more weight to as they search for a car seat that can protect children from injuries.
In one of such reviews, a parent claimed they had 2 Symphony DLX seats, and they installed one in their 2010 SUV. They were hit at full speed by another car and the impact was right at the door where their 13th-month-old daughter was sitting on the Symphony DLX. The rear suspension broke and their SUV spun and hit a tree and an electric pole. The daughter was unharmed.

Is there any way you could compare the Evenflo Everystage DLX to the Safety 1st Go & Grow?? These are the two I keep going back & forth on for my youngest. But I'm having a hard time deciding which one would be best. I have a safety 1st 360 air max which they don't sell anymore, otherwise I would get one of them for her. Please help 🙏
Hi Cathy,
Let me update this comment tomorrow with a link to the comparison review. 🙂 I’ll send the link to your e-mail, too.

Thank you for this great side-by-side review of the Evenflo Symphony and Everystage car seats. In my opinion, the Everystage DLX is the better of the two. Though they are both similar in many options, I like that the Everystage offers more in the range of use and can accommodate children for a longer time.
The Everystage space-saving size is a plus, even if it is a bit higher than the Symphony. I have driven with tall car seats before and there are a few things you can do to avoid having them block your rear view of the road. Adjusting your inside rear view and right outside mirrors has always solved the problem for me.
I feel that when selecting a car seat for the safe transportation of our children, spending a little more for better features is worth the cost. That EasyClick LATCH ratchet system looks like a much easier way to secure the seat. I am going to recommend the Everystage to my nephew who just became a dad.
Hi Robert,
I used to like the Evenflo Symphony DLX over other car seats that I have reviewed. However, when I came across the Everystage DLX, I was surprised that it is not very popular to parents, yet, it’s far more superior in terms of everything. I also believe that its extended use and LATCH system are the major factors to consider if decision making is hard.
Thanks for leaving your thoughts!
Kind Regards,
Pitin
