If you ask your child which car seat they like and show them all other convertible car seats including The Disney APT Convertible Car Seat, there is no doubt that most kids will choose The Disney APT seat. Just by looking at it, no child will say no to it.
But is it safe and comfortable for everyday use?
|Rear-Facing Weight:||5 to 40 pounds|
|Rear-Facing Height:||19 to 40 inches|
|Forward-Facing Weight:||22 to 40 pounds|
|Height Limit:||34 to 43 inches|
It seems that most parents find that it cannot really grow with their children, despite the above-mentioned promised limits. Some 30-pound kids, for example, are too tall for its “limited” height capacity.

It seems that using the Diono Sit Rite Car Seat Installation Aid helps since it can be hard to tighten in the rear-facing mode. Apparently, this third party purchase helps avoid a wobbly installation.
When using the LATCH installation, it will be impossible to tighten IF you have the straps threaded in the wrong direction through the bottom of the seat. The part of the strap that has the extra length should run from driver side to passenger side.
While doing a rear-facing installation, it would help if you have a space in front of the car seat so that you can lean into it, and put your full weight on it while tightening the strap.

Some parents say that the button on the harness straps is hard to release. Some parents also find it not long enough so it might not be usable for older children as promised in the product description.

*Although the seat material seems to be breathable, it is not padded enough for long rides and can be uncomfortable for your child.
It weighs super lightweight – even lighter than some infant car seats.
The cover is easy to remove which is easy to clean and machine-washable.
It is roomy for its promised weight and height limits, but because of the difficulty in trying to make a child fit properly in the short harness straps, the straps can make older kids’ chunky legs uncomfortable.
It doesn’t come with an infant body support and shoulder strap pads, but it does have a generous expiration date and 2 cup holders on both sides.
It seems that the main reason why parents are getting this car seat is that of the Minnie/Mickey Mouse design. The second reason is that it’s very affordable that they are fine using it as a backup seat.
But even as a backup seat, parents face different issues. Once they get past the installation stage, they have to deal with strapping their kids into the seat and make sure they are comfortable with the fitting of the straps as well as onto the seat itself.
Long rides are not advisable as it is not padded enough.
For what it’s worth, your child will love the Mickey/Minnie Mouse design in it. And they sure won’t mind if it’s padded enough or doesn’t fit them safely. On this point of view, you have a winner seat.
But for parents who know better, knowing that it doesn’t have a safe fit onto their older child is something alarming. After all, their safety is the main reason why we get car seats.
I highly suggest that you check out the feedback from parents who got this seat to further confirm your decision.
