Clek is a highly acclaimed manufacturer of amazing child passenger seats such as the Clek Fllo Convertible Car Seat. Its advertised features are undeniably technologically advanced, and any parent would like their child to have only the best.
Can a discerning parent overlook its high price and consider the car seat as a worthy purchase?
Keep reading below to see if this product can indeed be an excellent investment for children.
|Rear-Facing Weight:||14 to 50 pounds (US)
14 to 40 pounds (Canada), the child can sit on his/her own
|Rear-Facing Height Limit:||25 to 43 inches tall|
|Forward-Facing Weight:||22 to 65 pounds, 2 plus years old (Recommended)|
|Forward-Facing Height Limit:||30 to 49 inches tall|
The child who would use this in the rear-facing mode should be able to sit upright on their own and should not weigh more than 50 pounds. The seat can ONLY be used from birth and with children who still cannot sit upright unassisted, as long as it is used with the (sold separately) infant insert.
If to be used in the forward-facing mode, the child should at least be one year old, but the recommended age is 2 years old. The seat can accommodate the child forward-facing provided they are 22 to 65 pounds.
As per advice from the American Academy of Pediatrics, parents should keep toddlers in the rear-facing seats until they are 2 years old or once they have reached the maximum weight and height limit of a convertible car seat such as the Clek Fllo.
Referring to the height, weight and age recommendation from Clek, parents can quickly determine when it is time to switch from rear-facing mode to forward-facing mode.
Good All-In-One Car Seats
Will It Fit In My Car?
The Clek Fllo is one of the few convertible car seats that saves space in a vehicle, especially in the forward-facing mode. Just like the Diono Radian series, you can use three of them in a row.
Good 2-Way Car Seats
|Do I need to use a pool noodle/rolled towel?||Yes|
|Easy To Install Rear-Facing?||Yes|
|Easy To Install Forward-Facing?||Yes|
|Easy To Uninstall?||Yes|
Before installation, make sure that the proper shoulder harness and crotch buckle position of the child who would use the seat is correct, as you can see from this video.
For rear-facing installation, you must first recline and lock the recline foot, and then you add the anti-rebound bar (ARB). This bar is optional in the US but is a requirement in Canada.
Clek Fllo has two recline line indicators – one for children below 22 pounds and the other is for children more than 22 pounds.
A rolled towel or a pool noodle can be used to change the angle of the seat. The Anti-Rebound Bar can be used to adjust the recline easily. If you are in the US, I suggest that you just use the ARB because it helps in a more straightforward installation.
Without the Anti-Rebound Bar, the child seat can be moved closer to the vehicle seat.

The Clek Fllo is FAA approved, and this approval label is located on the bottom of the seat. The child restraint system of Fllo is also compliant with Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. The product is likewise certified safe for use in any motor vehicle and aircraft.
The steel anti-rebound bar enhances the Clek Fllo’s safety because it improves stability by limiting the seat rotation. The ARB is said to engage during a car crash. This protects the head of the child during a collision.
The advanced side-impact protection is made possible by the adjustable headrest, metal substructure, and deep side wings. There are also inner and outer foam layers that absorb energy.
The integrated flip foot further keeps the seat in place when in rear-facing mode.
The energy management system, called “energy absorbing crumple technology,” was developed and patented by Clek. The energy from an impact will be transferred to the aluminum honeycomb core located at the base of the product.
In a non-technical description, it means that through this “crumple technology,” the child’s body will be free from the energy that causes severe injuries from a collision.
This system will work regardless if the seat is installed using seat the belt or the car’s LATCH system.
A possible downside of Fllo is the loosening of the harness strap. The release button for doing this is located far inside the product. While this may be good since it can be hard for the child to reach, it can be somewhat tricky and difficult to take the child out.
|Is The Material Breathable?||Yes|

For the seat fabric, Clek boasts of its “GREENGUARD Select Certified” technology. This technology offers lasting protection from moistures, stains, and bacteria that cause odor. Clek Fllo is also free from chlorinated and brominated flame retardants.
Since the product is designed to be used for years, Clek should have considered that it can be prone to various and severe kinds of dirt and stains so it should have made the seat padding washable.
The owner’s manual includes various cleaning options, but only through hand cleaning such as brushing off, spooning or wiping off any residue on the surface.
Clek Fllo has 5 harness positions, 10 headrest positions, 2 crotch buckle options, and 2 harness lengths.
A child sitting in forward-facing mode may find the crotch strap rather tight with only two available positions. Clek possibly thought that this could be an issue, so it offers a longer crotch strap as a solution. However, it is sold separately like the infant insert and the cup holder.
The headrest adjuster allows for quickly adjusting the headrest in accordance with the height of the child.
The car seat can be moved or transferred from one car to another and in an airplane. Since the car seat comes in a single piece with no removable base, it can be carried and maneuvered compactly with the help of the Clek Weelee Travel Bag. It may have an additional weight from the reinforced metal substructure, but it is not as heavy as other car seats in the market.
This seat comes with a one-year manufacturer warranty and a 9-year expiration.
Clek Fllo is a good but luxury seat in my opinion. The base price doesn’t include many necessary things. The infant insert and the cup holder are sold separately. If you don’t need to use this seat for an infant, you may not need the infant insert at all, but the cup holder is a necessity in my opinion. The longer crotch strap is also an added cost when the default crotch strap becomes already too tight.
The seat cover is not washable, which can be an issue if you have an OCD and wants to have the seat cover washed.
If your child often has puke episodes, you will need the Clek Fabric Cleaning and stain remover kit, another upsell but can help save time since you no longer need to remove and attach back the seat cover to the car seat.
In my opinion, these are just minor disadvantages but not for parents on a budget. The cost of often getting the Clek Fabric Cleaning and stain remover can add up easily especially when cleaning the seat cover becomes a daily necessity.
Other than that, the features of Fllo makes up for the minor disadvantages.
Personally, I will consider buying the Clek Fllo convertible car seat. Some parents believe that they should not splurge a lot of money on baby items because the child will only outgrow them. For other things like branded baby clothes, I admit that I feel the same way. However, the Clek Fllo car seat can be an exemption.
Its technologically advanced features justify its hefty price tag. After all, these features have been carefully developed and meticulously patented.
Moreover, Fllo comes with 9 years expiration. Spending the money now on this car seat would mean that my child has 9 long years to outgrow this product. I must say that the Clek Fllo convertible seat is a worthy investment.
I highly suggest that you check out the feedbacks of parents who got this seat.
