  • Nextfit is lighter than the Nextfit Zip.

The weight difference is not much though, just 0.7 pounds.

  • The Nextfit Zip is a time-saver when you need to remove the cover for washing.

The Chicco Nextfit Zip model has an easily removable seat fabric that you can easily zip out of the seat when it is time to wash the cover.

This feature is especially useful since the older Nextfit’s seat cover is time-consuming to remove and put back.

  • Nextfit’s cup holder is not thermal-insulated.

I’m not sure if you are particular about keeping your child’s drinks hot or cold, but the Nextfit Zip’s thermal insulation will surely do the job.

  • The additional zipper for added convenience in the Zip model has an added cost of approximately USD 50.

Time = money. Yup. You spend another USD50 if time is essential to you. Getting the Zip model is a better decision if you are one parent who would always want things done immediately.

  • The “fashion” (colors) are different for the two models.

The Chicco Nextfit Matrix* color is particularly reported to have an unbreathable fabric. When getting the Chicco Nextfit, it is safe to choose any of the colors, except the Matrix one.

When deciding between the Chicco Nextfit and the Nextfit Zip, trying to save a little money on the Nextfit is not very wise. The time you will spend trying to remove the seat cover of the Nextfit can be used for other things.

However, if you are not very particular about spending a little more time everytime you need to wash the seat cover of the Nextfit, then, you should be fine getting the unzippered one. The Nextfit is as easy to install as the Nextfit Zip. And aside from the obvious benefit of the Zip, you can enjoy the same features even if you decide to get the Nextfit instead.

  1. Hi Pitin,
I am glad I came across your website. Being a young father, it is always good to find comparison websites where you can see pros and cons of related items. It seems to me Nextfit Zip is worth the extra investment.

    1. Hi Marian,

I agree. I, myself, am not a very patient person and want all the convenience and time-saving feature especially if I have already paid high enough for a certain product.

Spending an extra USD50 is well worth it in my opinion, especially if you have a child who doesn’t fail to have motion sickness every time they ride in a moving vehicle.

Being able to zip and unzip the seat cover of the Chicco Nextfit Zip is a very good feature in my opinion.

  2. I personally love the “easy way out”. The zipper is totally my vote, not only it’s easier, but also saves a lot of time. Otherwise, the struggle is real, especially if the seat gets stuck or breaks as you try to remove it.

    1. Hi Angie,

I am with you on this. 🙂 My daughter always get motion sickness and the seat that can save me more time when it’s time to wash the cover gets my vote. The additional cost for getting the zippered version is worth it in my opinion.
