How do you know if the Chicco Keyfit Zip Car Seat is what you are looking for? See the following points to ponder.
|Rear-Facing Weight:||4-30 pounds|
|Height Limit:||Up to 30 inches|
Like the almost similar models Chicco Keyfit 30 Magic and regular versions, the Zip’s weight and height limitations are similar – still 4-30 pounds and up to 30 inches in height.
Will It Fit In My Car?
|Do I need to use a pool noodle/rolled towel?||No|
|Easy to install?||Yes|
|Easy To Uninstall?||Yes|
There are three ways you can install the car seat.
The first method is by connecting the base using the LATCH. Second is installing the base using the lap/shoulder belt. And the third one is by installing the car seat carrier without the base and therefore using the car’s seatbelt directly into the car seat carrier.
Refer to the following videos on how to do it.

|Length Of Canopy||A little way past the middle, if the additional zippered visor is added|
|Does The Canopy Get In The Way Of The Carry Handles?||No|
|Does It Stay In Place?||Yes|
|Is It Easy To Move?||Yes|
The Zip’s canopy provides a decent amount of coverage. It extends to the middle, like some infant car seats but it has an additional visor that you can attach by a zipper for “additional” shade.
The ability to zip a new visor in the canopy adds a few centimeters to the existing canopy coverage, although it doesn’t add that much. I feel the zippered visor option is an “accent” because of the playful colors of the zippers, more than an additional shade.
|Seat Weight:||10 pounds|
|Machine Washable Cover?||Yes|
|Comes With An Infant Body Support?||Yes|
|Easy To Remove Cover?||Yes|
|Shoulder Harness Has Pads?||Yes|
Best to use the Zip carrier with a compatible stroller or the Keyfit Caddy if you want a lighter option.
One thing I don’t “like” about the Zip (and the other two Keyfits), is the manual rethreading of the harness. Not that it’s hard to do. But it would be nice if you just have to slide the headrest up and down and the shoulder harness height will go with it – just like the Britax B-Safe 35, B-Safe Elite 35, and Uppababy Mesa’s non-rethread harnesses.
Like the Keyfit Magic, the Keyfit Zip comes in premium fabrics that are even easier to remove for washing. Here’s how you do it.

Is Chicco Keyfit Zip For Me?
What sets the Zip model from other infant car seats (not just the other Chicco Keyfits), is the overall look. It’s trying to be “fashionable” while still being functional.
If you live in a cold place or expect to give birth in cold months, you’ll come to appreciate the weather boot it comes with.
The presence of the “rainbow zippers” in the Fuchsia/Purple model, for example, cannot be found in other infant car seats yet, at least as of writing this review.
The newly-released “hydra” color, has green zippers and equally beautiful, detailed white and green stripes.
The “Genesis” color has beautiful black and white stripes, too, as an accent.
The cute, colorful zippers as well as the accents on the visor and the boot, sure does compliment the overall look if you are a parent who wants to be carrying around a car seat with a “touch of smart detail.”
The Chicco Keyfit 30 Zip is as robust as the other two Keyfits. It is as easy to install as well as secure.
If the weather boot is your reason for getting the Zip, know that it is also found in the Chicco Keyfit Magic. The Keyfit Magic provides MORE canopy coverage than the Zip.
If a luxurious feel of materials is what you want in a seat, know that the Magic also has a luxurious feel.
The main advantage of getting the Zip, in my opinion, is just its overall look which will surely make every parent’s head turn.
I highly suggest that you check out the reviews of the parents who got this seat.
