Here Are The Main Things To Consider When You Are Torn Which To Choose

Choose The “Regular:”

-If you want to have the cheapest option of the three but still can have an equally safe seat.

-As long as you avoid the sporty visors that come in these colors/patterns (These colors/models have the least amount of canopy coverage). Almost all of these are already unavailable in the online market but still worth noting just in case you plan to get from a physical store:

  • aster
  • radius
  • snapdragon
  • graphica
  • sedona
  • midori
  • surge
  • romantic
  • pulse
  • glacial
  • veranda

– As long as you choose from the three-panel canopies category to have a good amount of canopy coverage. These are the colors to choose from:

Choose The Zip:

-If you want to have a good canopy coverage as the “regular” three-panel canopy models.

-If you want a zippered infant boot, canopy, and sun visor

-If you want to have to option to easily zip off the fabrics for cleaning.

Choose the Magic:

-If you want a nicer fabric (premium quality) compared to the two

-If you want a canopy that has the most coverage that can almost cover the baby completely

-If you want to have the zip feature that can open up to a mesh material so that the air can circulate inside

-If you want to have an infant insert and shoulder pads that are reversible and can let you choose between a breathable mesh and a soft cover.

-If you want an infant boot because you are expecting a winter baby.

Conclusion

Choosing the “regular” three-panel canopy models would give your child a safe and comfortable seat just the same as when you choose the zip and the magic.

The zip and magic versions are good if you are expecting a “cold-weather” baby. Alternatively, a good blanket would keep your baby warm just the same.

Using a blanket has the advantage of being able to get out of the seat quicker compared to when there is a boot. However, if it is windy, having an attached weather boot would take the worry out about a flying blanket.

Unzipping the boot off in the Zip model will take the same time as when you want to remove the boot from the Magic, which is attached by velcro. I am not sure if you would ever need to unzip the canopy/visor.

Being able to quickly “unzip” the canopy, boot and visor are nice if you have a baby who always makes a mess.

While the three-panel canopy models can provide an ample amount of canopy coverage, the Magic version will almost completely cover your child while still letting the air in.

The fabric of the Magic seat is nicer but that doesn’t make the “regular” and Zip seats less comfortable.

For an additional $10 that you will spend in the Magic seat, you get a more plush fabric, an extra canopy coverage, and a weather boot, something that is worth more than $10, in my opinion, should you happen to have a winter baby.

And the zip? It’s the most expensive of the three while being less “superior” than the Magic.

I am good with the Magic* and the regular* versions but if you live in a tropical country, you wouldn’t be needing the boot that the Magic comes with.

Which of the three gets your vote and why?

  1. Thank you so much for this article! I was trying to decide between the regular and the magic and you just help me make the decision. I’m going to go with the magic because I am expecting a winter baby and the quality of the fabric and the breathability of the fabric is very important to me as is safety. Thank you again

  2. I would have to choose the regular model. I live in a warm weather (hot) climate, and the sun protection would be a great feature to have. I also like the easy access and clean-ability. Just curious, do you know how to clean this? Do parts of it go in the washing machine?

    1. Hi Kris,

In general, you can spot clean the fabric if the mess is not too much. However, if you need to wash the fabric, you can remove the seat cover and use a mild soap to wash it in the washing machine. You should never bleach the seat cover.

For the plastic parts, you can sponge-clean them.

For all straps (i.e. harness straps and LATCH straps, use a warm water and towel dry them. Sponge-cleaning them would also do. Do not use soap in the buckles and LATCH parts as it may weaken them and cause them to malfunction.

      I hope this helps.

      Regards,
      Pitin
