For many parents, the price difference between the Britax Boulevard Clicktight car seat and Graco Milestone would lead them to buying the cheaper one, which is most of the time, the Milestone. Its lower price tag would even give parents 3 modes of usage. However, I would state right from the start that the Britax car seat will be a more practical and sensible choice. Read on to know why.

High Back Booster Weight Limit:

High Back Booster Height Limit:

  • Rear-Facing/Forward-Facing

The two car seats actually share similar sets of traits and features for ideal usage in rear-facing and in forward -facing. They have the same maximum weight and height limits for the two modes of usage. Additionally, you could read from reviews that although they are advertised to be used starting at 5 pounds, the minimum weight of children that either car seats can safely (snug fit with the harness system) accommodate is about 7 pounds. This is the known weight of an average-sized newborn.

In this table for the 25th – 75th percentile for height and weight, you could see that a 4 year old boy/girl child could weigh almost 40 pounds. Thus, if your child falls within this range, then either the Graco Milestone or the Britax Boulevard Clicktight could be used in rear-facing for up to 4 years. Both car seats could maximize either of them until their children’s height can no longer be safely accommodated.

  • Booster Mode

Since the rear-facing and forward-facing capacities of the two are similar, parents will be left with the availability of a belt positioning mode in Graco Milestone and could use this as the deciding factor. With booster capacity of Milestone, its usefulness in catering to the needs of children passengers may be extended until the child is about 10 years old. This will allow parents to maximize the lifespan of the product.

  • 3-Across

If what you are looking for is a car seat that will readily fit 3-across (3 of its kind and in any configuration) in your mid-sized vehicle, your best bet would be the Graco Milestone. Parents, however, need to understand that a 3-across installation will be affected by various factors such as the size of the vehicle, the make and model of the vehicle, the available LATCH and vehicle seatbelt, size and configuration of child passenger safety seats to be installed.

Milestone will not likely fit 3-across in a compact car with a row of seat measuring 48 inches wide, but it can fit in a mid-sized sedan 52-56 inches wide or in a minivan 63.5 inches wide. It was reportedly installed alongside an infant carrier and a Graco Nautilus forward-facing inside a Ford Edge. Two forward-facing Milestones at the sides and one rear-facing in the center was the configuration used by a mother who installed the 3 car seats in her Toyota 4Runner.

With a width of 1.5 inches greater than the competition, Boulevard Clicktight will likely fit 3-across in a mid-sized vehicle or a minivan. A mother noted that she drives a 2010 Honda CRV and she has installed 3 Boulevard car seats in the back row.

  • Fit In Cars

Milestone was said to be a good size for a parent who has a Subaru Outback. It was installed, albeit a tight fit inside a Honda Civic. It was also mounted inside a 2014 VW Jetta and the parent said that it did not take up a lot of space. On the same note, this was also placed in a Toyota Highlander and lot of space was still left for other passengers. At first, it was installed by a set of parents loosely in their Ford F150, but found later on that they could put more pressure at the center of the car seat to achieve a tighter fit as they pull the straps.

Boulevard Clicktight is not exactly a huge car seat, but compared to the competition, it is obviously wider and taller. Still, many parents have approved this product that they had a great time installing in their respective vehicles. For example, Kia Forte Koup is a 2-door car, but a parent said they have installed the Boulevard Clicktight in there although the front passenger seat was almost on the car’s dashboard. It was also placed in a smaller SUV, a Kia Sorento, but it still was installed and fit nicely at the back seat. Another parent claimed that it fit better in their VW Atlas than in their Subaru Crosstrek and Subaru Outback. Its installation in a 2008 RAV4 was a breeze, according to another reviewer. A grandpa said they had installed Boulevard Clicktight with no problem in their 2015 Silverado 4-door, 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix, 2015 Kia Soul and 2013 Subaru Legacy.

Good Two Way Car Seats

45 pounds

  • Pool Noodle/Rolled Towel

Both allow the use of rolled towels.

  • Recline

Britax  Boulevard Clicktight has more recline positions than the Graco Milestone. However, there are some vehicles wherein the recline offered by this car seat would still not be enough, such as in the bucket seat of a Dodge Grand Caravan and thus, needing to place the rolled towel or pool noodle underneath. Graco Milestone, with fewer recline settings, required the rolled towel when it was installed in one parent’s Ford Edge.

  • Vehicle Seatbelt Installation

Boulevard Clicktight is without a doubt the winner in terms of this criterion. With its Clicktight feature, not only does it have a built-in seatbelt lock-off, but it also makes installation an experience many parents will likely describe with approval. Britax car seats with such features are sort of optimally designed for vehicle seatbelt installation. The Clicktight system, however, is not fool-proof. In fact, you need to read the manual or watch videos to know exactly how to install and how to avoid some issue in case you immediately proceed with the installation without reading the manual first.

  • LATCH Installation

If you would compare reviews for each of this seat, you would likely come up with a conclusion that Milestone has better LATCH installation features than the Boulevard Clicktight since the former has push-on InRight LATCH connectors and the latter has j-hook connectors. Nevertheless, if you could easily install the Boulevard Clicktight using the seatbelt of your vehicle, you would not mind at all if its LATCH installation capability is poorly designed. With the more preferable option of vehicle seatbelt installation with Boulevard  Clicktight, you would not be bothered about the potential problems encountered with LATCH installation such as lack of LATCH connectors (especially in the middle seat or in some older model of cars) or too deeply placed connectors.

  • Lower Anchor Weight Limit

Milestone surely has higher lower anchor weight limit than Boulevard Clicktight. Yet, just as mentioned earlier, parents will likely not pay attention to LATCH installation if they can deal with vehicle seatbelt installation quickly and easily. This will also make them forget about weight restrictions that are associated with LATCH installations. Parents should know that once a child reaches the weight limit for the lower anchors, such as 45 pounds with Milestone, they need to change the car seat’s installation from LATCH to vehicle seatbelt. Thus, initially installing with LATCH basically delays the inevitable fact of having to use the vehicle seatbelt to mount the child safety passenger seat. With Boulevard Clicktight, you could just simply install using the seatbelts and not worry about exceeding its lower anchor weight limit.

  • Country Of Origin

While it matters not to most parents where the product was manufactured, as long as it does the job to protect and provide comfort to a child, some parents would actually give weight to the product’s country of origin. Therefore, Boulevard Clicktight would be a worthy car seat these people will buy.

  • Safety Features

Graco Milestone is said to offer safety features that are usually found in child passenger safety seats, such as steel frame and side impact protection. Britax Boulevard Clicktight, on the other hand, offers more hyped safety features like Honeycomb SafeCell Technology, Side Impact Protection Plus and separately sold anti-rebound bar. There are also Boulevard Clicktight models that already comes with it.*

  • Safety Testimonials

Milestone is regarded by one parent as the car seat that saved his son’s life. Incidentally, their car flipped over in an accident, but the son did not have even a scratch.

One story you could read about how the Boulevard Clicktight worked during road accidents is about a parent’s car getting totaled in a crash. Despite this incident, the son suffered not even a tiny bruise.

  • Breathable Cover

The fabric cover of Britax Boulevard is highly praised for helping child passengers stay cool and comfortable. Yet, you might come across one review where the parent complained about how her daughter’s car seat lacked cushioning, which made her child cry and feel irritated especially during long rides. To avoid this, it will be ideal to thoroughly inspect a newly bought car seat and then contact the manufacturer if you ever find anything unusual with your purchase so as to avoid future issues.

  • Maintenance

Graco Milestone would be preferable regarding this aspect since its cover is machine-washable while the competition may only be washed manually.

  • Harness

Boulevard Clicktight has a Click & Safe indicator that gives audible clicking sounds to signal how snug and tight the harness is on the child. Meanwhile, the Milestone has a 2014 IIHS Best Bet for its booster fit. This only means that it can provide good seatbelt fit for 4-8 years old children in almost any car, SUV or minivan.

  • Cup Holders

Milestone already comes with a cup holder while you have to buy these as separate sold accessories for Boulevard Clicktight.

  • Lifespan

They have the same lifespan of 10 years. With Milestone, this means that a single child could maximize the entire length of 10 years as he/she she could use the car seat until the booster years. Meanwhile, a single child may outgrow a Boulevard Clicktight and still be able to hand it down to younger kids in the family.

Check The Latest Price*

There is an approximately USD 95 price difference between the Britax Boulevard Clicktight and Graco Milestone. The Boulevard is more expensive.

With, Boulevard Clicktight you’ll have:

  • an easier way to install the car seat via seatbelt (Clicktight system)
  • more recline positions
  • a US-made seat
  • an option to enhance the safety features and install an Anti-Rebound bar
  • a breathable seat cover

Still, for parents considering the Graco Milestone, it

  • has a belt-positioning booster mode
  • is compact
  • has push-on LATCH connectors
  • has higher lower anchor weight limit
  • is lighter
  • has machine-washable seat cover
  • has included cup holder
  • has more crotch strap positions

For this review, I think that I would choose Britax Boulevard Clicktight for the main reason of it being easy to install using vehicle seat belts due to its ingenious Clicktight System. While this Clicktight feature is not entirely fool-proof, it still makes vehicle installation so much easier that parents could forget about trying to install using LATCH, which has its restrictions such as lower anchor weight limit. Correct (and easy) installation, as studies point out, is essential for prevention of injuries from real-life accidents.
