Will It Fit In My Car?
This infant car seat comes with a narrow design. Depending on what type of car you have, it can be placed side by side together with a convertible seat in between – all in one row.
You can also put three in a row should you happen to have triplets. The Baby Trend Flex Loc infant car seat is one of the narrowest infant seats today.
|Do I need to use a pool noodle/rolled towel?||Yes (Without The Base)|
|Level Indicator For Correct Recline Angle?||Single level indicator|
|Base: Easy To Install?||Yes|
|Carrier Easy To Install Without The Base?||Yes|
|Easy To Uninstall?||Yes|
|Carrier Easy To Click Into The Base?||Yes|
|Carrier Easy To Remove From The Base?||Yes|
The level indicator when installing the base is only found on one side. Compared to other higher-end seats with dual level indicators, it’s not a big deal, since you can always check if you have the proper recline just by peeking at the side where the indicator is.
Installation without the base would need you to place a rolled towel or a pool noodle to get the proper recline. It’s something common, I noticed, for infant seats that are in the lower price range.
Installing the car seat carrier using the car’s seatbelt will need you to use a locking clip. It is safely stored on one side of the seat, underneath the seat cover. Some parents don’t even know it’s there. So you must check it upon buying. The locking clip is supposed to make sure that the seatbelt is kept tight when the car seat is installed without the base.
How Easy Is It To Install The Baby Trend Flex Loc Infant Car Seat?
The Baby Trend Infant Car Seat base is relatively easy to install – both by the LATCH and car seat belt.
Using the base, the seat angle adjuster located at the foot of the base can be raised or lowered to get the correct recline angle of the seat.
The seat angle indicator will make sure that you install the seat at the proper reclining angle.
To ensure that you achieve the correct recline of the base, there must not be a “red” color showing up on the indicators.

How Do You Attach The Baby Trend Flex Loc Infant Car Seat To The Base Correctly?
- To attach the seat to its base, align the seat to its base.
- Press the seat down firmly until the seat clicks down into position. Don’t forget to check that both sides of the seat are placed securely to the base.
- To release the seat from its base, just squeeze the base release handle located below the foot end of the seat.

|Easy To Buckle And Unbuckle?||No|
I am glad that no death or injury has been reported in connection with this car seat. BUT it is worth noting that five years ago, one parent posted a YouTube video about the button getting stuck and, therefore, makes the straps loose.
A more recent feedback from a parent from Amazon also reported that they had met an accident, but her child was securely untouched as if the accident did not happen.
BOTTOM LINE: Make sure you install the base correctly. Strap your baby securely and double check (or triple check) that everything is done correctly to avoid any life-threatening situation.
One thing that you might find challenging is that you have to put the two pieces of the buckle together as per the diagram.
It can be hard if you have a baby who is fussy, and you are rushing to strap your child securely onto the seat.
Practice is the key. You might need several trips with this car seat before you can successfully master the art of buckling up your baby in no time.
See the illustration from the manual to help you conquer the “rocket science” buckles.
|Length Of Canopy||Extends to the middle|
|Does It Get In The Way Of The Carry Handles?||No|
|Does It Stay In Place?||Yes|
|Is It Easy To Move?||Yes|
The major thing that parents love – the carry handles. The triangular shape for carrying at an angle that is most comfortable for you is definitely a plus especially to parents who don’t have a stroller yet to strap this seat into.
Only this car seat has a handle like this. A lot of infant car seats have a design flaw wherein the canopy can get in the way of comfortably handling the carry handle. But not the Baby Trend Flex Loc.
The handle can be hard to move back and forth to different carrying positions.
A struggle that a first-time parent can encounter is that the carrying bar can get stuck.
Adjusting it might need an extra effort.
It can be a challenge if you have small hands since you have to press the two side releases of the handle firmly to move it down.
|Is The Material Breathable?||Yes|
|Seat Weight:||9.45 pounds|
|Machine Washable Cover?||No|
|No-Rethread Harness?||Fixed Back: No
Adjustable Back: Yes
|Comes With An Infant Body Support?||No|
|Easy To Remove Cover?||Yes|
|Shoulder Harness Has Pads?||No|
If you get the infant carrier that comes with a fixed back, you have to manually re-thread the harness to the next higher slot every time your child grows a significant amount of height.
If you get the seat with the adjustable back, you will have the convenience of not having to rethread the harness manually. You just need to rotate a knob behind the seat to move the harness height up and down.
To know whether the Flex Loc seat is adjustable or the fixed back, look at the following pictures.
See the “wing-like” shape of the headrest of the adjustable back model? There is a knob behind the seat that you can rotate, and the headrest will go up and down to eight different positions.
The inverted “U” shape of the fixed back model is just a soft cushion. The fixed back model needs manual rethreading of the harness, and you only get three different height positions for the fixed back model.
There is also two type of bases. Look at the following photos.
Both of them can be used for the fixed back and the adjustable back. However, the first photo, apparently, is easier to deal with.
The seat has a breathable fabric in general which is a good thing.
Take note that the seat cover can only be HAND-WASHED. You also have to buy a separate newborn insert for added protection and comfort of your little one.
Also, the sturdy canopy provides a decent amount of shade.

Cheapest Place To Buy
One of the best things about the Baby Trend Flex Loc is the angled carry handle, which, will accommodate several angles that you prefer to carry the seat using your bare hands.
Not many mid-priced infant seats will let you enjoy the convenience of a no-rethread harness. Most of the no-rethread harness infant seats are priced at USD 150 and above.
If this is the seat you are eyeing to buy, make sure to get the “wing-shaped” headrest in combination with the base that is easier to deal with.
The Baby Trend Flex Loc infant car seat is a good seat if you’re looking for an affordable option. Most of the adjustable back models even come with a weather boot to keep your child warm on cold days.
Yes, it has its negative sides, but it gets the job done without having to cost you an arm and a leg.
I highly suggest that you check out the feedbacks of parents who got this seat to help you more.
