The question of whether or not The Britax B Safe 35 Elite Infant Car Seat is still safe to use started when Britax recalled the B-Safe Elite 35 including the B-Safe 35 seats because of reports about defective carry handles.
The said carry handles develop cracks which can pose a danger of breaking and falling when carrying the infant seat. Affected models are those manufactured between October 1, 2014, and July 1, 2015.
Britax has posted a video on how to fix it. They are providing a “remedy kit” for affected models.

Many parents who got the Britax Elite 35 liked that it is easy to install as long as you use the base. Once you use the lap/shoulder belt directly to the infant car seat carrier, you will need to utilize a pool noodle. It’s something crucial especially for first-time parents who will be dealing with car seats for the very first time.

One thing that parents don’t like about carrying this seat with arms or hands is that the canopy can get in the way. There is limited space between the carry handles and the canopy.
There are two solutions you can do about it. First, attach the car seat to a compatible stroller. The second one is to get the canopy out of the way. Do the second one only when you are not in need to protect your child from the sun or the rain. Otherwise, consider getting a stroller for efficiently transporting it around.

Knowing if your child will not overheat in the seat is very important. The Elite 35 has plush, premium padded fabrics that make it a comfortable place for your baby.
You can only HAND-WASH the cover if you need to clean it. It’s very important to take note of that because you don’t want to end up with a seat cover that is fraying on the edges after machine washing.
Because of the steel frame structure, it is built with, the seat is heavy even when empty. 11.5 pounds can be difficult to carry with bare hands especially as your child grows heavier.
It is also good that you don’t have to manually rethread the harness every time your child needs a little more room height-wise.
Some seats would need you to get separate shoulder harness pads. The Britax Elite 35 already includes them so you don’t have to get them separately.
The Britax B-Safe Elite 35 is no doubt a safe seat. Its “deep” and side-impact protected seat in combination with its steel frame structure and impact absorbing base is more than a complete formula for a well-structured safe infant seat.
The design of the seat tends to lean on the “narrow” side. Britax wants to make the side to side movement of the child to be minimal as possible should there be a collision.
How narrow? The space for the shoulder width is only 10 inches according to the Britax website. That would mean there is no way your child will be able to reach the 32 inches height limit as well as 35 pounds weight limits.
In getting this seat, expect that your child will outgrow it sooner than expected especially for babies with the genes of tall parents.
Is it still a safe seat even after the recall issue with the handle? Well, yes – if it’s clicked into the base and if you will purchase the seat manufactured after May 31, 2017. Wherever you decide to get it from, be sure to check with the seller.
I highly suggest you check out the feedbacks of parents who got this seat to further confirm your decision.
